Drexel University College of Medicine will be entering into a Cooperative Research Agreement with Allegheny-Singer Research Institute (ASRI). The agreement stipulates that Drexel defers to the review of ASRI as allowed for in the code of federal regulations pertaining to IRBs (section 114 of 45CFR46). There is no one way that the agreements must be structured. The only requirement is that the agreements must be registered with the Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP). Accordingly Dr. Sreekant Murthy, Vice Provost for Research Compliance at Drexel requested that separate permission forms be derived from the consent forms so that consent forms only applied to majors and permission forms only applied to minors.
